Social Studies By: Valerie Garza Social Studies is a place where everyone learns to respect each others’ differences, and also learn about Texas and American History. It’s important to know all these things because you wouldn’t want to be rude or offensive to someone who is in a different culture. You also want to know about Texas History. It’s important to know all the tragic events that had once happened, and our founders of Texas. So, why is social studies important? Lauren Brumback said, “So we don’t repeat the mistakes of the past.” Lauren said her favorite part of history is when America gained freedom. Hayden LoCoco said history is important because we need, “to know about our history so we wouldn’t be lost or confused about Texas. Haleigh Chapin said that it is important to know about other cultures, “So that if we ever went to a different place or continent we wouldn’t be offensive. We should know how to respect peoples’ differences.” Social Studies is also a fun, safe place. You can make maps, or draw. You learn about things that you may have known about before. Learning different peoples’ cultures is an important thing as well. It’s very mean and cruel to make fun of someone because of their skin color, or what type of clothes they wear, or what food they eat. This is why it’s important to know different peoples cultures, to respect them. |
